Toddler room redesign
As my little Harry started to grow into a toddler, I knew his traditional baby blue bedroom would also have to follow suit! It was extremely important to me to create a space just for him which was fun, modern and something he wouldn’t outgrow too quickly. After lots of online searching I spotted the ‘Grey Stars’ theme and it wasn’t long before my vision came to life!
Harry’s room has a lot of personal touches including wooden letters (Hobbycraft) to spell out his name, specially designed prints to fit the theme (LXR Prints) and even a personalised sleepover bag (This Pretty Room). These finishing touches add a special feeling of uniqueness to his bedroom.
Storage is key to keeping Harry’s room organised and I like to look for decorative accessories that not only compliment his room but also double up as toy storage such as the star suitcase set (Amazon) and the door hang with pockets (CB Interiors). The larger storage boxes/baskets are ideal for his bigger toys and were very reasonably priced from B&M.
Harry’s two favourite areas are definitely his reading corner and his kitchen (Smyth’s Toys). The book shelves are actually spice racks from Ikea painted white – possibly one of the best hacks I have seen!
I have found that redecorating does not always mean buying new things. Sometimes you can have the perfect item and it just needs a little upcycling. Harry’s lampshade from Laura Ashley was transformed after a lick of paint although it was a little tricky, it was definitely worth it.
The item I feel brings the whole room together is the roman blind. I hunted high and low for something to match and this is exactly what I was looking for (Roman Blinds Direct). The blackout option is essential for the lighter nights and creates a cosy atmosphere for bedtime.
Bedtime is when I love the room the most. The lightbox and smaller star lights (The Range) give off such a lovely glow and there is nothing I love more than snuggling under the duvet (eBay) with Harry to have some bedtime reading!
